چکیده
A COMBINED CHANNEL-MODIFIED ADAPTIVE ARRAY MMSE CANCELLER AND VITERBI EQUALIZER by Richard M Friedman In this thesis, a very simple scheme is proposed which couples a maximum-likelihood sequence estimator (MLSE) with a X-element canceller. The method makes use of the MLSE's channel estimator to modify the locally generated training sequence used to calculate the antenna array weights. This method will increase the array's degree of freedom for interference cancellation by allowing the dispersive, desired signal to pass through the array undisturbed. Temporal equalization of the desired signal is then accomplished using maximum-likelihood sequence estimation. The T-spaced channel estimator coefficients and the array weights are obtained simultaneously using the minimum mean square error criteria. The result is a X-element receiver structure capable of canceling X-1 in-band interferences without compromising temporal equalization. Modification of Sidelobe Canceller System In Planar Arrays (RESEARCH NOTE)
A Side Lobe Canceller (SLC) structure is a conventional partially adaptive technique which is used in large adaptive array radars. If a desired signal has long time duration in comparison with the SLC adaptation time, signal components may be cancelled. So, this paper presents a modified SLC which eliminates desired signal cancellation problems and allows using an unconstrained adaptive algorit...

Non-Linear Minimum Mean Square Error (NLMMSE) estimators have seldom been used in practice because of the intrinsic analytic difficulties that arise in their development. However, it has been recently shown [7] that the A Posteriori Probabilities (APPs) of the states of the ISI channel can be efficiently used to generate NL-MMSE filtered and fixed-lag smoothed estimates of the transmitted symbo...

This paper proposes an iterative receiver derived from recent advances in narrowband turbo equalization for the multicode transmission scheme of the downlink of DSCDMA systems with long scrambling sequences. The proposed scheme is based on a chip-rate linear equalizer exchanging soft information on the composite multiuser signal with the channel decoder in an iterative process. When all spreadi...

This paper proposes a new spatio-temporal equalization method using a cascade configuration of an adaptive antenna array and a DFE (Decision Feedback Equalizer). The spatio-temporal equalizer with the cascade configuration can be realized in low computational complexity, however, the error performance surface becomes a fourth-order function of the weights, and possibly has two minima. In order ...
